We suggest you begin by reading
Lesson 1 of the Lotsawa Training Class, explaining what it takes to be a lotsawa.
Acquiring the skills outlined
will not be easy. It will, in fact, be very hard work, but ultimately worthwhile.
So, how should you begin?
There are many ways to learn
a language, and Tibetan is no exception. Several textbooks have been written, and each has its own particular approach to
learning (certain aspects of) Tibetan. We shall be referring to the resources that are currently available (as well as those
that are not) in the coming pages. This guide will follow a logical sequence in an attempt to describe certain stages along
the path to “Translatorhood”, but we are conscious of the fact that every reader will have his or her own unique
set of circumstances and requirements.
