As essential services like communication and telehealth move increasingly online, folks without basic tech knowledge often get left behind, especially along racial and socioeconomic lines. If your company is interested in promoting digital inclusion with us, you can play an important role in our mission. Whether you seek a tailored experience for a specific group within your company, such as an employee resource group, or want to participate in one of CTN’s special events, we’d love to have you join us. Our programs serve older adults in community centers all around San Francisco, and we’ll collaborate with you to find a volunteering opportunity that best fits your team’s needs. Whether you want to volunteer somewhere close to your office, serve older adults from a specific community or language group, or join an already-planned CTN event, your company’s presence greatly increases our capacity, especially if any members of your group speak another language, such as Cantonese, Mandarin, or Spanish. If you want to get an idea of what volunteering with CTN looks like, […]

For example, how can folks schedule doctor’s appointments, search for jobs and apartments, and receive emails from their children’s school teachers if they can’t get online?  By promoting digital inclusion, we are working to overcome systemic inequalities. After submitting your application, you will receive a follow-up email that includes a link to basic training created by CTN staff. This online training takes about an hour to finish and covers topics like tips for working with older adults. Upon completion of the training, you will be prompted to answer some simple reflection questions.  Next, potential volunteers must complete two […]
