THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT IN 2022!

We hope you had a wonderful New Year! As we enter 2023, Community Tech Network would like to extend an enormous thank-you to everyone who donated to our recent fall fund drive. Thanks to your generous support, we raised over $13,000! Together, we can bridge the digital divide.

Staff says thank you

COMMUNITY TECH NETWORK SPOTLIGHT

Google Fiber

FUNDER SPOTLIGHT: GOOGLE FIBER

The federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provides eligible low-income households with discounts on their monthly internet services, but many people are still unaware of the program. With the financial support of Google Fiber, CTN is launching an enrollment specialist initiative to train members of nonprofit organizations, social service providers, and other agencies so that they are equipped to help their clients register for the ACP. Learn more about this work with Google Fiber.

EAH PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: EAH HOUSING

Last year, CTN began offering digital skills training to EAH Housing residents in San Francisco and San Jose as part of a grant from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The work has been so successful that EAH asked CTN to begin training at additional sites in Marin and Napa counties. Says EAH’s Chris Burger: “You can tell the CTN instructors really want to be there, and the learners love it. …Getting connected really opens up a whole new world for them.” Read more about our expansion with EAH Housing.

Pat Jew

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: PAT JEW

CTN is committed to collecting quality data and has announced that Pat Jew will become the organization’s first data quality and control manager. The creation of this new position was the logical next step in CTN’s ongoing efforts to maintain data integrity. Previously, our staff has actively participated in the Metta Fund’s Evaluation and Learning Capacity Building Program, through which we continued to improve our data systems and monitoring and evaluation. Learn more about Pat’s new role.

UPCOMING EVENTS

  • Online Course! Expanding Home Connectivity in Your Community
CTN’s co-founder and executive director, Kami Griffiths, is leading an online course designed for other nonprofit leaders. Since many nonprofits work with low-income adults who cannot afford devices or broadband services, the course explains how to help such individuals, particularly those that are homebound, get fully connected to the internet. The course, offered through NTEN, is at 11 a.m. Pacific on February 1. Sign up today!
  • CTN is proud to be an affiliate of the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA), which is hosting Net Inclusion, a three-day digital equity conference in San Antonio from February 28 to March 2. CTN’s Kami Griffiths will be speaking at the Teaching Tech: Training Models session. In this panel, Kami and other experts will discuss the need for flexibility in digital inclusion efforts so that the unique needs of communities are met. They will reflect on best practices and responsive methods of instruction and training. Click here to learn more about the session.
