Do you have an hour a week to donate?
Change a life by teaching someone how to navigate the internet.

All CTN volunteers receive training to help them understand how to work with adult learners and ongoing support to ensure their success. Volunteers must be over 18 and go through a mandatory background check to work with older adults.

What do we need from you?

1-2 hours a week for 12 weeks
Intermediate-level digital skills
A high level of patience

CTN’s volunteer program fosters intergenerational relationships, builds leadership and teaching skills, and creates a sense of community. By teaching others how to navigate the internet, you will empower them to:

access essential resources (telehealth, information, news)
connect with friends and family
and explore their interests online

You will reduce isolation and feelings of loneliness. Above all, you will equip them to feel more confident, curious, and capable.

Virtual volunteers must be over 18 and a US resident to go through a mandatory background check to work with older adults.

Both remote and in-person opportunities (in San Francisco) are available. Are you fluent in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Tagalog, Vietnamese or Korean? We especially need your help!

I spend my days helping to organize the world’s information, and to make it universally accessible and useful with a focus on good public policy to that end. It’s a pleasure to support and see this through the lens of the CTN community.

As much of our lives have gone remote, technology has proven to be a vital tool for staying connected to communities around the world. As a Digital Coach, I want to support older adults in gaining the essential skills needed to navigate through the digital world.

I volunteer to give back to my community by doing something I enjoy – tech support! The Bay Area is the center of the tech universe, and yet we have many people who aren’t able to reap the benefits of our connectedness. I’m honored to help CTN bridge that divide.

I am a retired software engineer who is from Hong Kong originally. I have been volunteering remotely (I don’t live in the Bay Area) with CTN since June of 2021. I am grateful for the opportunity to help seniors with their Android questions in Cantonese.
