San Francisco tech business Kanjoya was founded on the principle that technology should serve to enrich lives. Now that’s a principle CTN can identify with! We were, therefore, truly delighted when the company stepped up to the challenge of helping deliver another Internet workshop for seniors.
On Thursday April 24, six fantastic volunteers came to the Curry Senior Center in the Tenderloin district to help ten eager seniors develop their computer skills. The seniors’ appetite for technology seemed insatiable. Three of them went away with a brand new email account. One, initially reluctant to get online, was drawn in by the opportunity to see the sights of his native Laos on screen.
The volunteers were confronted by language barriers, but thanks to their conscientiousness (and the wonders of the BTOP computers’ multilingual capabilities), seniors were able to access the Internet in their own languages.
The session might’ve gone on all day, but a delicious Asian lunch was on offer from Project Open Hand, and when the food arrived, the volunteers departed.
