In April, you can travel to Cuba while supporting CTN’s mission to transform lives through digital literacy. We will be leading a delegation there that will focus on culture, economics, and technology. Part fundraiser, part fact-finding, this will be a unique opportunity to observe Cuba at a pivotal point in time as its government, NGOs, and social institutions work together to close their digital divide.
Here are some of the people and organizations that we’ll get to meet:
- The Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, and the Ministry of Technology and the Environment
- Raúl Rodríguez, one of the organizers with the Joven Clubs/Youth Technology Centers
- Professor Pedro Urra from Havana University, a founder of INFOMED, the open-source national health information network of Cuba, and an international consultant in information projects and social initiatives
- Dr. Yudivian Almeida Cruz, Professor in the School of Mathematics and Computation at the University of Havana, who researches web-based information distribution systems
- ICAP, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples that coordinates Cuba’s NGO-nonprofit programs and relations with solidarity groups in other countries
