CTN is a proud member of the SF Tech Council, a collective of organizations that is dedicated to advancing digital inclusion for older adults and people with disabilities.
Established in 2014, the council explores opportunities for collaboration in the following key digital inclusion policy areas.
- Access and learning
- Innovation at the intersection of health, social services, and technology
- Reducing isolation and loneliness
- Preserving diversity in a rapidly changing city
You can read about the projects it’s involved in on the council’s website, but if you want to keep more in the loop, I encourage you to attend an SF Tech Council meeting. Our meetings are open to all and are held the third Wednesday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m., usually followed by a wine and cheese networking reception till 7 p.m. To be added to the Tech Council’s email list, attend a meeting, or get more information, contact Tech Council consultant Susan Poor at susan@susanpoor.com.
It’s important for all the digital inclusion players to work together to inform policymakers, and collaboration is critical to the survival of the digital inclusion movement.
Being part of the council is important to CTN in more material ways, too. Partly owing to our council membership, we were successful in getting a $100,000 grant for our Tech Allies program, which matches tech-savvy young people with older people.
And the council has been supportive of our other initiatives, helping to raise the profile of our work. You can read their recent articles about our work in the Tenderloin, and our device recycling program benefitting seniors.
