Kami Griffiths, Community Tech Network’s executive director and co-founder, is teaching an online course next month through NTEN. The course, which is designed for other nonprofit leaders, focuses on digital equity and home connectivity.
Many nonprofits work with low-income adults who cannot afford devices or broadband services. This course explains how to help such individuals, particularly those that are homebound, get fully connected to the internet.
In this course, called Expanding Home Connectivity in Your Community, Kami defines digital literacy and provides tips on community needs assessments and project execution.
Kami has been teaching this course since 2018, and CTN and NTEN have worked together closely over the years to support digital equity efforts. CTN regularly presents at NTEN’s Nonprofit Technology Conferences.
An NTEN representative remarked: “NTEN has a long history collaborating with CTN to support our communities in their drive towards digital equity. Our joint work has spanned years and sectors; we’ve co-hosted panels, sat on each other’s advisory boards, and led trainings. We’ve also supported capacity building in mutually beneficial ways.”
Community Tech Network began providing training to NTEN’s Digital Inclusion Fellows in 2015. One such fellow, Samantha Akwei, received their Rob Stuart Memorial Award.
Says the NTEN representative, “Our partnership [with CTN] over the years has been incredibly powerful, and we hope it continues into the future.”
