September 8 is International Literacy Day. The aim of the day is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities, and societies.
UNESCO has designated the 2018 theme as literacy and skills development. Given the digital nature of our world today, it is important to highlight the importance of digital literacy skills and access.
The use of digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers for purposes of communication, expression, collaboration, and advocacy is a must in our world today. Digital literacy skills help us gain employment, communicate with our family and friends, and open our eyes to more opportunities.
CTN has worked for a decade providing digital skills training and access to the people currently in the divide, regardless of income, education level, or age. CTN celebrates International Literacy Day with its learners, who are developing the digital skills they will use to transform their lives for the better.
