Dorothy Quock has long been a dedicated leader at the YWCA Chinatown Computer Learning Center. A native of San Francisco and a speaker of Cantonese, she is keen on social inclusion and has urged her friends in the Chinese-American community to become a part of our digital literacy and inclusion initiatives. Through my coaching, and that of others from CTN, she has become a proficient user of all things Google. She even recently acquired a much-deserved Chromebook!
A former executive secretary, Dorothy still regularly writes in shorthand to keep track of a diverse calendar of duties, both as a well-respected tour guide and a researcher for films. She was recently researcher for Forever Chinatown, which has been screened across the country and was featured on the PBS website. She does outreach for her career in film through email and has ventured into Facebook to connect with her many devoted friends, gained from a long and honorable life.
Dorothy sets a high standard of excitement for life, learning, and all the possibilities of community. She is a fighter for justice. We are so lucky to have Dorothy in the orbit of CTN’s efforts and look forward to a continuing collaboration with her and like-minded student advocates.
