From CTN’s inception, our mission has been to unite organizations and volunteers to transform lives through digital literacy. This mission has taken different forms over the years, but 2020 challenged us in ways we never imagined. The launch of our remote Home Connect program represents a significant milestone in our journey. Since the program launched last April, CTN has received 279 referrals, awarded 243 devices, and provided over 1,700 hours of instruction to isolated seniors.
We are proud of our sustained impact in the face of rapid change and global uncertainty, but none of this would have been possible without the remarkable support of our partners and funders.
We are especially grateful to San Francisco’s Department of Disability and Aging Services, which allowed CTN to use SF Connected funding to get the Home Connect program off the ground. Two other funders, Metta Fund and the Newhall Foundation, allowed us to shift funding to support Home Connect, while AT&T provided a generous grant that gave us the opportunity to purchase the first 100 tablets. Our community partners play a key role in fulfilling our mission to bridge the digital divide. This year, we had the chance to work with organizations and senior centers to keep their participants connected — including Little Brothers – Friends of The Elderly, Curry Senior Center, Sequoia Living, Mission Neighborhood Centers, and many more. These partners enable us to expand our impact by connecting their participants to our Home Connect program and collaborating with us to meet their unique needs. As we look towards the future, we are excited to continue partnering with these and other organizations to create a digitally inclusive world for all!
