The holiday season has begun! As you plan your after-Thanksgiving shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, take a minute and imagine what life would be like without access to the internet.
How would YOU shop, work, communicate, or find the information you need?
As COVID-19 spread, access to the internet proved to be a critical need for everyone, but most importantly for isolated older adults to remain safe in their homes. Communicating with doctors through telehealth visits, ordering medications and groceries online, and staying in touch with families and friends are but a few of the benefits available to older adults with internet access, a device, and the training to use them.
Unfortunately, too many people across our nation do not have internet access, nor do they possess the skills needed to safely and independently use the internet. As our nation once again surges with coronavirus cases, older, vulnerable populations will continue to suffer isolation-related health issues.
Community Tech Network offers programs to help these isolated older adults gain access to the internet and crucial digital literacy skills. Home Connect provides this training remotely, allowing both the trainer and the older adult learner to remain in the safety and comfort of their homes.
Donate today to give a senior the connectivity they need this holiday season and beyond. A gift of $45 provides three months of internet connectivity; $200 will cover the cost of a configured 10-inch tablet, a protective cover, and a stylus pen for one older adult; a gift of $350 will fund five 60-minute virtual training sessions that teach an older adult how to use the tablet and connect to the internet safely.
Make a contribution to support an isolated older adult today.
Thank you for your generosity!
