When Roberta Przybylski retired from the public sector, after working as an educator and a technical writer and teaching herself how to use the computer, it seemed like a natural fit to share her technical expertise with fellow seniors. She began volunteering at the AGE Computer Lab, where for the last 19 years, she’s taught hundreds of adults how to use their computer and enjoy working with software. Roberta refers to herself as a “techno-creative” (her words). She is a creative digital storyteller, specializing in photography applications, with an emphasis on legacy projects.
For Digital Inclusion Week, CTN partnered with AGE to bring a group of Google volunteers to deliver training. During the workshop, volunteers helped seniors learn how to use Google tools, including Google Docs, calendars and Gmail. Volunteers also provided one-to-one mentoring to answer the learners’ specific questions. Roberta made sure the training was booked a week in advance — her learners know that when she promotes a class it’s going to be a good one!
CTN is excited to be working with the AGE lab, and we are currently seeking additional opportunities to partner this year.
