As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of aging, one critical aspect that demands attention is social isolation among older adults. Community Tech Network is excited to present at the 2024 On Aging conference hosted by the American Society on Aging (ASA).
The conference will be held from March 25 to 28 in San Francisco, and our session will delve into innovative approaches to reducing social isolation through digital inclusion initiatives.
We hope that this presentation will prove beneficial to government and social service agencies, as well as nonprofit organizations seeking strategies to reduce social isolation for older adults.
Session Overview
During our 60-minute presentation, titled “Best Practices in Addressing Social Isolation with Digital Equity Strategies,” our expert panel will explore the outcomes, research, lessons learned, and recommendations from two of CTN’s digital equity programs: Home Connect and Connections, Health, Access, and Technology (CHAT).
Session Highlights
Amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic, senior center computer labs closed, exacerbating social isolation among older adults. CTN collaborated with community and government partners to distribute devices and provide digital literacy training, aiming to reconnect older adults with their communities online. Through pre- and post-program surveys, participants’ social isolation levels and digital skills were assessed.
