Digital Literacy is a SUPERPOWER!
On May 6th, Community Technology Network held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Party to acknowledge the many “superheroes” who volunteer in computer centers. Our amazing volunteers offer encouragement to new computer learners, share tips for remaining safe online, suggest helpful resources, and help troubleshoot various problems with their students.
A big thanks to Twitter for generously providing refreshments and donating the use of their Aviary located on the top floor of their new Market Street headquarters. With floor to ceiling windows, volunteers and their guests enjoyed amazing sunset views of the San Francisco skyline as they looked down on the dome of City Hall.
Five volunteers were presented with the “Golden Mouse” award for their great service. Ben Hansen, Gerri Shaw, Cody Wild, and Natasha O’Yang won awards for their expert tutoring, and Gayle Samuelson Carpentier was awarded for her many years of volunteer service as chair of Community Technology Network’s Board of Directors.
Guests were invited to share why digital literacy, volunteering, and Community Technology Network are important to them. See below or click this link to check out what they shared on our Facebook page.
