Dear friends,
This month, we’re celebrating CTN’s 15th anniversary! For the past 15 years, Community Tech Network has been dedicated to transforming lives through digital equity, and we couldn’t have done it without your support.
During this time, we helped thousands of individuals get online by providing them with free devices, technology classes, and ongoing tech support, and have even helped many sign up for low-cost internet at home.
As we celebrate this significant milestone and the past 15 years of success, we also look toward the future and all that we hope to accomplish in the next 15 years and beyond.
We invite you to join us in our special campaign by donating in honor of our 15th anniversary. By doing so, you’re helping us build a world where everyone has the chance to thrive in the digital age, regardless of their age, income, or background.
In Their Own Words
CTN recently collected quotes from a cohort of learners. Here are some that stood out to us:
“I want to thank CTN for giving me the tablet and teaching me how to use it. I used to be very active at the senior center in the past, but everything was shut down three years ago. I had to stay at home all day. The tablet allowed me to stay connected to others.”
“Some seniors are having a hard time catching up. I strive my best to be more independent. I want to get help from others, not from my own children.”
“I don’t go out too much due to safety reasons. The neighborhood has gone bad with lots of crime … I’m glad that I have the tablet to keep me busy. I can follow videos to do exercise every day, and I like to watch cooking shows.” Check out our blog to see more quotes like these.
Fast Facts About CTN’s Home Connect Program
Online Tech Classes
When we created Home Connect to provide virtual technology classes to older adults during the pandemic, it was a game changer. Folks needed the internet more than ever (to order groceries online, keep in touch with loved ones, access entertainment, speak with doctors, etc.), but they could not leave their homes to receive training.
The program was so popular that we have continued it to this day.
However, many people have questions about Home Connect. After all, if someone lacks technology skills, how will they be able to take a virtual class? Also, Home Connect offers five classes; what do people do if they still need help after that? Discover the answers in our blog with fast facts about the program.
Driving Economic Development through Digital Equity
Digital equity can unlock a wealth of opportunities for economic growth and empowerment. By investing in digital equity initiatives, including those that expand internet access and teach digital skills, we can empower individuals and communities to thrive in the digital age.
