Thank You for a Year of Transformation & Growth! – Jan 2022

THANK YOU FOR A YEAR OF TRANSFORMATION & GROWTH!

As we welcome a new year, we look back on 2021 with pride and gratitude. Over the year, we expanded our team with new contract trainers and leadership roles. We launched innovative new partnerships with Sourcewise, Senior Access, and AGE of Central Texas. We continued to grow and evolve our Home Connect program, providing digital skills training to older adults in their own homes. We also returned to in-person training at select partner sites, navigating the changing circumstances of the pandemic and adapting programs to suit partner needs.

Though there are too many highlights to mention in one recap, our activities were well documented with over 100 blog posts published this year! We invite you to read stories of impact from our diverse community of learners, volunteers, and staff members — all of whom have a unique outlook on the importance of digital skills.

None of our successes would be possible without the generous support of our donors and funders. They made it possible for us to launch new partnerships, reach new populations, evaluate our programs, develop our curricula, and continue to offer the highest quality of digital literacy training to older adult and lower-income learners.

We are also grateful for the countless volunteers who donated their time to CTN this year. Their dedicated efforts ensured that CTN learners felt supported to keep learning and exploring the digital world.

Though 2021 wasn’t always smooth sailing, it marked a time of significant growth and change for CTN. We look forward to what’s in store as we enter a new year and remain grateful for everyone involved in helping us transform lives through digital literacy!

COMMUNITY TECH NETWORK SPOTLIGHT

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: MINNA LEE HOTEL

Learning tech skills can be difficult for any newcomer, but its challenges are exacerbated for those who lack stability. Recently, CTN taught residents of the Minna Lee Hotel housing development how to utilize technology to apply for jobs, seek educational resources, and stay connected to others. Read more about our partnership with the Episcopal Community Services and classes at the Minna Lee.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: RAFAEL Z.

“One reason I started working at the computer lab is to connect people,” says computer lab volunteer Rafael Z. “Technology is a good way for the Latino community to communicate with families at home in Latin American countries.” Follow along with Rafael’s volunteer experience at San Francisco’s Downtown Senior Center computer lab.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: PAT JEW

“Everything is going digital. If we can help the older generation get comfortable and familiar in the digital world, they will be able to connect with the younger generation,” says CTN’s volunteer and program manager, Pat Jew. Check out why Pat is passionate about her work at CTN!

WE’RE HIRING!

Do you know someone who’s passionate about digital literacy? We are looking for outstanding team players to join our growing staff. Spread the word to help us find the right people for the role — and check out our careers page for all our opportunities.
